Can You Hear Me Now? Finding Our Way Back to Connection

ree

Have you ever been on a call where you just can't hear the other person? You find yourself asking, "Can you hear me?" hoping for some sign of connection. That's exactly where I was the other day. I couldn't hear the person on the other end, but they could hear me. Eventually, we connected and had our conversation.

It struck me that sometimes, our relationship with God can feel a lot like that. Life gets so incredibly busy, doesn't it? The endless to-do lists, the daily stresses, the constant distractions – they can drown out everything else. We get so caught up in the cares of the world that we forget to simply pause, sit down, and connect with God. More importantly, we forget to listen.

When we don't take the time to listen, it's a bit like a child wandering off. We head in directions we weren't meant to go, making choices that might lead us astray. I imagine God might be thinking, "If only they had taken the time to sit, talk with me and then listen to my direction."

I've certainly found myself in that very spot. Getting so swept up that I neglect to pause and truly listen. There was a time when I'd talk constantly, but I fell out of the habit of both listening and even talking. Now, I sometimes make decisions and find myself wondering if the divine is silently asking, "If only you were listening... I wonder if she can hear me..."

My goal is simple: Sit and Listen. My goal is to intentionally set aside time not just to connect with God, but to quiet my mind and truly hear. Will you join me in this?

"If today you hear that voice, don't harden your heart..." — Psalm 95:7-8
