Can you give up control?

God has a funny way of showing us things that he needs us to know in the most unconventional way. I was practicing last night and in the midst of practice, one of my coaches says "I can tell a lot about a Bowler's life by the way the throw their ball." He then turns around and tells me that I need to stop trying to control how my ball moves down the lane and just let it do all the work.
As I'm packing up my equipment afterwards, it got me thinking. What other areas of my life am I'm trying to control instead of trusting God? What all am I trying to control? What am I not trusting God with? Scripture reminds us that God is not a man so he cannot lie. If God says he'll do it, it will come to pass. We just have to trust him.
Throughout Scripture, there a plenty of people who have had to give up control and trust God. Deliverance from Egypt does not happen without the burning bush. The Crucifixion does not happen without the Garden of Gethsemane. The New Testament does not happen without the Road to Damascus. Christianity does not happen without the Apostles giving up everything and following Christ. What isn't happening in your life because you are not willing to give up control?
My prayer for you today is that you work on giving up control. We need to let God do what he does. We need to trust that as we move through this thing called life that God has us. We need to trust that if God whispers something in the small stillness that he will make it come to pass. We don't have to help him do what he does, we just have it put ourselves in position to be used as we are designed. He created us for a purpose. Let us allow him to use us as he designed us. Let him use us.
Lord, I give up control. Even when I feel as if I can do it better, I give up control. I will stop taking on assignments and jobs that were not mine to begin with. In giving up control Lord, I will have the ability to do what you want me to do. I will have the ability to show up as you want me to. I will have the ability to walk out your word and your directions. Heavenly Father, you know all. You know why you created me. I give up control and let you use me as created. I thank you Heavenly Father for meeting me where you do always. I thank you for using any means to get your message across. Wrestle with my current nature like you did with Jacob turning him into Isreal. Wrestle with my current man until he falls away into the new creature that follows you unconditionally. That person is inside me Heavenly Father, bring it forth. Bring it forth. Bring it forth.
In Jesus's name. Amen.
